Overwhelmed? Quick tip for staying present and reducing anxiety...

...quick tip tuesday.

Happy quick tip tuesday!!

If you prefer video/audio, hit play. If reading is more your jam, keep scrolling. 😉

…and for the love of everything holy, I have no idea why my videos upload with me looking like I use a filter (it doesn’t look this way on my phone).

Since having a baby, everything overwhelms me. My poor nervous system is constantly fluctuating between sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and dorsal (freeze) energy.

Yesterday, I caught myself shifting out of the present moment and into a state of overwhelm at the thought of alllll the things I needed to get done.

Knowing that this leads to anxiety and agitation (for me), I immediately brought awareness back to my present moment.

I redirected my attention to what I was doing in the moment and I reminded myself of the task I was currently working on. I brought awareness to my body, relaxed my muscles, and slowed my breath.

If you’re like me, where the moment you leave the present moment you’re anxious, give this tip a shot.

  • Come back to the present moment.

  • Remind yourself of the task at hand. Notice the details of what you’re doing.

  • Relax your muscles (tense muscles increase anxiety)

  • Slow your breath and engage in belly breathing (I’ll teach you how in a future quick tip tuesday so stay tuned)

It also never hurts to make a to-do list and just tackle one.thing.at.a.time.

I promise you, worrying about how you’ll get it all done will only lead to anxiety.

I hope this helps!!

Until our next chat,

biggest hugs
